Just finished this one. Source material was this pic [link] from ~G-E 's stock gallery. As always not sure if it is done but I'm diggin on this one. Acrylic, graphite, and water color pencil on good old bristol board.

I love not just the handling and layering of the paint, but the control of it all. It's great to get such control with such energy. I also really like the lightness of the shadows, and the way the simple but powerful background enhances the portrait. Working from a model is usually more fun than from photos, if one is available.

hey good work on this one... the texture and many diferent planes you made is what makes this a strong peice... it reminds me of the artist Lucian Freud... you should check him out... i found this peice browsing google for you, it has a very striking resemblance to what you have painted... [link]

I really hope your going to art school, or are already there, because your portraits are unreal. They are amazing. The face its self in this piece is wonderful, I wouldn't change a thing, but the color you chose for the background is a little odd, but still it works. Props to you.

I actually graduated from the University of Central Fl., which I am starting to realize had an excellent program, none of the classes I take at the schools where I live now are on the same level. I am still hoping to be able to work out grad school at some piont though, I just have to find some way out of this town.

Well, your really awesome! I just submitted my slides to Mason Gross School of The Arts at Rutgers Univerity, I hope I get in! They do their reveiws on the 4th...but anyway, I just got into this whole deviant art thing, so thats why I have like 6 things up there, but more are on their way! Keep up the good work!
